VHP Files Formal 'Love Jihad' Complaint in Koppal District, Accused Arrested with Explicit Material

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has filed a formal written complaint at the Koppal women's police station on April 10, alleging a case of 'love jihad' in the district. The complaint targets Mustafa Khadri Eklaspur, a resident of Kampli village in Koppal taluk, Karnataka.

Details of the Alleged Relationship and Discovery

According to the official complaint submitted by VHP district president Sangamesh Hiremath, Mustafa developed a close relationship with a Hindu student from a village in Kushtagi taluk while she was pursuing nursing studies in Koppal. Suspicion arose when local Hindu youths recently spotted the two together at the Koppal District Hospital and subsequently questioned Mustafa about their association.

During this initial inquiry, two mobile phones belonging to the accused were examined, leading to what the complaint describes as the recovery of highly objectionable material. The VHP alleges that investigators found photographs and obscene videos featuring 16 girls from different communities stored on the devices.

Shocking Scale of Recovered Material

The complaint provides specific details about the volume of explicit content allegedly discovered:

  • One mobile phone contained approximately 3,000 videos and 6,000 photos of various girls in obscene poses.
  • A second phone reportedly held 3,700 videos and 4,000 photos of similar explicit nature.

VHP district president Sangamesh Hiremath has made serious allegations against the accused, claiming that Mustafa systematically exploited poor girls from rural areas, recorded their private visuals without consent, and subjected them to repeated mental and physical harassment over an extended period.

Police Response and Community Reaction

Following the incident, Hindu activists brought Mustafa to the Koppal Town police station on Saturday, where hundreds of local residents gathered to witness the developments. During police questioning, the accused reportedly stated that he was genuinely in love with the Hindu student and had already married her.

However, Hindu organizations have strongly contested this claim, alleging that the case represents a systematic 'love jihad' activity rather than a genuine romantic relationship. A formal delegation led by VHP district president Sangamesh Hiremath later met with Superintendent of Police Ram L Arasiddi, submitting the two mobile phones and supporting documents as evidence while urging a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Official Police Statement and Investigation Status

Responding to the developments, SP Ram Arasiddi confirmed that the accused has been taken into police custody and is currently undergoing detailed questioning. The senior police official assured the public and concerned organizations that all aspects of the case will be examined thoroughly, with appropriate legal action to follow based on the investigation findings.

The police have emphasized their commitment to conducting a fair and impartial investigation while maintaining law and order in the district. The case has drawn significant attention in Koppal and surrounding regions, highlighting ongoing tensions around interfaith relationships and allegations of religious conversion through marriage.
