Government Veterinary Doctor Found Dead in Chatra Forest, Murder Suspected
In a tragic incident in Chatra district, a 58-year-old government veterinary doctor was discovered dead in a forest area near Tudag village on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Yogendra Yadav, a resident of the Baharakocha area in Gandharia village.
Discovery by Villagers
The grim discovery was made early in the morning by local villagers who were heading to the forest to collect mahua flowers. They spotted the body lying on a pathway, prompting immediate concern and alerting authorities.
Family's Search and Identification
Family members revealed that Yadav had left his home around 5 pm on Friday, informing them he was going to Unta More for some work. When he failed to return by 8 pm, his family initiated a search operation. Despite searching throughout the night in nearby areas, they were unable to locate him.
On Saturday, Krishna Dubey, the mukhiya of Deoria panchayat, informed the family about the body found in the forest. The family rushed to the spot and confirmed it was Yadav.
Allegations of Murder and Community Outcry
Yadav was described as a respected figure in the local community. Several villagers, including zilla parishad member Chandradev Gope, mukhiya Krishna Dubey, and former mukhiya Kumar Vivek, have alleged that this was a pre-planned murder. They are demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible.
A gathering of villagers at the scene expressed deep concern over what they perceive as a lack of security in the area. They have called for a fair and thorough investigation into the incident to ensure justice is served.
Police Investigation and Findings
Chatra subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Sandeep Suman and Sadar police station officer in-charge Awadhesh Kumar Singh arrived at the location with a police team. The police recovered Yadav's mobile phone from the scene and have begun examining his call records as part of the investigation.
SDPO Sandeep Suman stated, "Several injury marks were found on the body of the doctor, including his face. Police are probing the case from all possible angles, including murder. A forensic team has been called to collect evidence."
An officer involved in the case suggested that the doctor might have been murdered elsewhere and his body later dumped in the Tudag area. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further forensic evidence.
Ongoing Probe
The police are treating this as a serious case, with multiple lines of inquiry being pursued. The involvement of a forensic team underscores the complexity of the investigation, as authorities work to piece together the events leading to Yadav's death.
This incident has shaken the local community, highlighting concerns about safety and security in rural areas. As the investigation continues, residents await answers and hope for swift action from law enforcement agencies.
