In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Vadodara police apprehended two individuals and confiscated a large quantity of cannabis valued at approximately Rs 3.77 lakh. The operation unfolded near the Halol Road toll plaza on Thursday, following specific intelligence about drug movement.
Tip-Off Leads to Swift Interception
Acting on a credible tip-off regarding a vehicle transporting illegal substances, the SOG team swiftly moved into action. They established surveillance and successfully intercepted the suspected vehicle near the busy toll plaza on Halol Road. The driver and his associate were immediately taken in for questioning.
Search Yields Major Haul
A thorough search of the vehicle was conducted by the officers. This search led to the discovery and recovery of a substantial stash of cannabis, commonly known as ganja. The police have estimated the street value of the seized narcotics to be around Rs 3,77,000. The two accused have been identified as Sabir Sheikh, the driver, and his associate, Jahid Sheikh.

Following the seizure, the cannabis was officially confiscated and both accused were taken into police custody. The Vadodara police have emphasized that this is just the beginning of a deeper probe.
