Vadodara School Bomb Threat: 11-Year-Old Student's Prank for Holidays Sparks Major Security Alert
What began as a simple child's attempt to skip school escalated into a full-scale security emergency in Vadodara, Gujarat. On a day when multiple educational institutions across the state had received threatening emails about potential bomb blasts, an 11-year-old Class 5 student allegedly decided to capitalize on the panic for his own benefit.
The Threatening Email That Triggered Police Response
Around 5:30 PM on Monday evening, Bright School in the Harni area of Vadodara received an alarming email threatening bomb explosions on their premises. The message specifically demanded that holidays be declared immediately, raising immediate red flags for authorities.
Multiple police teams swiftly descended upon the school campus to conduct an exhaustive search of the entire property. Officers meticulously combed through classrooms, corridors, and outdoor areas, but ultimately found nothing suspicious or dangerous.
Police Investigation Uncovers Child's Involvement
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshukumar Verma revealed that investigators became suspicious because the wording of this particular threat email differed significantly from those received by other schools in the region. "The boy wrote that a bomb had been planted in the school and demanded that holidays be declared," Verma explained. "We traced the email ID and quickly reached the source."
The digital trail led police to the mobile phone belonging to the boy's mother. When officers arrived at the family's residence in the Bapod area, the mother was reportedly completely unaware of what her son had done using her device.
Student's Confession and Motivation
A thorough check of the mother's email account confirmed that the threatening message had indeed been sent by her 11-year-old son. During police questioning, the boy confessed that he had been watching news reports about bomb threats sent to schools across Gujarat state.
The student admitted that he simply wanted additional holidays from school and thought creating panic would achieve this goal. He explained that he had used his mother's phone while she was unaware and sent the email from her account.
Police Response and Serious Warning
Authorities promptly informed Bright School administration about the incident and its resolution. Police issued a stern warning to the boy's parents about the serious consequences of such actions, even when committed by children.
"No one should indulge in such acts," police cautioned. "Even a prank like this can land them in serious trouble. It wastes valuable police resources, creates unnecessary panic among students, parents, and staff, and disrupts the educational environment."
The incident highlights how easily children can mimic dangerous behavior seen in media reports and the importance of parental supervision of digital devices. While no formal charges were filed against the minor, the episode serves as a stark reminder that bomb threats—even as pranks—are treated with utmost seriousness by law enforcement agencies.
