In a significant security incident, a 45-year-old United States citizen was detained at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport on Thursday. The detention occurred after security personnel discovered a banned satellite phone in his baggage during pre-boarding checks for a Delhi-bound flight.

According to police reports, the passenger has been identified as Bright Andrew Clinton, a medical doctor by profession and a resident of Alabama, USA. Clinton was scheduled to travel to Delhi on Air India flight AI-1843, which was set to depart at 4:20 PM. During routine baggage screening procedures, constable Vikas Yadav detected a Garmin satellite phone among Clinton's belongings.
Assistant sub-inspector Sachin Kene from the airport immediately informed the MIDC CIDCO police station about the recovery of the prohibited device. CISF officer Sunil Kumar, along with other security officials, formally seized the satellite phone in the presence of panch witnesses, including ASI Kumar and ASI Yadav. The confiscated device, along with a photocopy of the passenger's passport, was subsequently handed over to police authorities for further investigation and appropriate action.
