UP Court Gives Life Term to Domestic Help for Murder

A court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced a domestic help to life imprisonment for murdering his employer over a financial dispute nearly two years ago and attempting to destroy evidence by burning the body, as per a PTI news agency report.

Conviction and Sentencing

The court convicted Wasim, a resident of Muzaffarnagar district, in connection with the murder of his employer Abid Khan. Along with life imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 63,000 under various sections of law.

The verdict was delivered by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (I) Sunil Kumar Yadav, Assistant District Government Counsel Ravi Prakash Goswami said.

Incident Details

According to the prosecution, the incident took place on July 29, 2024. A complaint was lodged at the City Kotwali police station by Hanif Malik, the uncle of the deceased and a resident of Delhi's Okhla area.

Abid Khan lived in a rented house in Jhansi's Talaiya locality along with Wasim and was involved in the business of selling plastic goods, Malik told police.

On the morning of the incident, Abid's charred body was found inside the rented accommodation. During the investigation, local residents informed police that they had seen Wasim fleeing the house shortly after the incident.

Investigation and Confession

Police later took the accused into custody. During interrogation, Wasim allegedly confessed to killing Abid over a financial dispute and subsequently burning the body in an attempt to destroy evidence, police said.
