Massive Drug Bust in Ujjain: Rs 50 Crore MD Lab Raided, 31 Kg Seized
Ujjain Drug Bust: Rs 50 Cr MD Lab Raided, 31 Kg Seized

In a significant blow to narcotics networks in Madhya Pradesh, the Central Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) dismantled a major illegal drug manufacturing facility in the Agar-Malwa district in a pre-dawn raid on Saturday. The operation led to the seizure of a substantial 31.25 kilograms of MD drugs, with an estimated international market value exceeding a staggering Rs 50 crore.

The Pre-Dawn Raid at Teerth Nursery

Acting on a precise tip-off, NCB officials launched the covert operation around 4 AM, targeting the Teerth Nursery in the Aamla area. Intelligence suggested a smuggler was expected to arrive to collect a consignment of MD drugs. A team, led by Mukesh Khatri, Superintendent of Narcotics for the Ujjain region, and VS Kumar, in-charge of Neemuch and Jaora, cordoned off the nursery from all sides.

After a patient surveillance operation lasting several hours with no suspect appearing, the team decided to storm the premises. What they uncovered was not just a stash but a fully operational, clandestine laboratory dedicated to manufacturing synthetic drugs.

A Fully-Equipped Illegal Factory Uncovered

The raid revealed a sophisticated setup for producing narcotics. Beyond the ready-to-sell MD drugs, officials confiscated approximately 600 kilograms of various precursor chemicals essential for the manufacturing process. The seized chemicals included:

  • MDC
  • MMA
  • Sodium Carbonate
  • Triethylamine
  • Sodium S

Authorities also seized all the machinery, technical equipment, and apparatus used in the illicit production. To ensure the site could not be reactivated, the NCB team destroyed the laboratory on the spot immediately after the seizure.

Investigation Ongoing, Network Under Scanner

While the swift action successfully neutralized the production unit, no arrests have been made so far. However, officials confirmed they have gathered crucial evidence pointing to the involvement of specific suspects. The narcotics department is now intensively analyzing this evidence to map the entire drug network and its supply chain.

Superintendent Mukesh Khatri described this as the most significant action against narcotics in the Agar-Malwa district to date. The focus is now on identifying and apprehending the masterminds and financiers behind this illegal operation. The haul's massive value, initially reported at over Rs 10 crore locally but assessed at over Rs 50 crore internationally, underscores the scale of the racket that has been disrupted.
