Udupi Town police have successfully arrested two individuals accused of inter-state motorcycle theft. The police also recovered a stolen two-wheeler in connection with a theft reported from Moodanidamburu village.
The Theft Incident
Nagachandra, a 32-year-old resident, filed a complaint with the police. He stated that he parked his motorcycle near the Landmark Building on Karavali Bypass Road on December 28 at 9 pm. After returning home, he came back to the spot at 7 am the next day. To his shock, he discovered his motorcycle was missing. The value of the stolen vehicle was estimated at Rs 70,000. Based on this complaint, Udupi Town police promptly registered a case.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Under the guidance of Udupi sub-division DySP DT Prabhu and the supervision of Udupi Town police inspector-in-charge Mahesh Prasad P, authorities formed a special team. This team, led by police sub-inspectors Bharatesh Kankanavadi and Gopalakrishna Jogi, worked diligently to trace the accused.
Recently, the team located the suspects in Mukkam, Kozhikode district, Kerala. The police arrested two persons identified as Ashik Ansar, aged 19, and Mohammed Altaf, aged 23. Both individuals hail from Ernakulam district in Kerala. During the arrest, the police recovered a stolen bike from their possession.
Criminal Records of the Accused
Police records reveal that Ashik Ansar is involved in two criminal cases in Kerala. These include one house burglary case and one ganja consumption case. Mohammed Altaf has a more extensive record, with five cases registered against him in Kerala. His charges comprise three theft cases and two ganja consumption cases.
This arrest highlights the effective coordination of Udupi police in tackling inter-state crimes. The recovery of the stolen vehicle brings relief to the victim and serves as a warning to other potential offenders.
