In a shocking case that has sent ripples through Rajasthan's corporate circles, the Udaipur Police have arrested three individuals, including the CEO and a female executive head of a private company, for the alleged gang rape of a woman employee. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of December 21, following a birthday celebration for the CEO.
The Arrests and Key Accused
The police made the arrests in the early hours of Thursday, subsequently producing the suspects before a local court which remanded them to police custody. The arrested individuals are the CEO of the firm, the woman executive head of the same company, and her husband. The involvement of a woman among the accused adds a disturbing dimension to the case.
Sequence of Events: From Party to Assault
According to the police investigation, the survivor and the suspects had all attended a party to celebrate the CEO's birthday. The gathering continued late into the night. After other guests were asked to leave, the survivor was left alone with the three accused. The police stated that the suspects then offered to drop the woman home in her own car.
Once inside the vehicle, the victim was allegedly given a substance that rendered her unconscious. In her statement to the police, she alleged that the CEO and the executive head's husband then took turns to sexually assault her while the car was moving. The horrifying ordeal came to light after the victim later checked the footage from her car's dashcam.
Medical Evidence and Legal Action
The survivor filed a formal complaint with the police on December 23. Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal confirmed that the medical examination of the survivor has been conducted. The medical report has corroborated the victim's allegations, confirming injuries consistent with sexual assault.
Police authorities have emphasized that the probe is ongoing and that further legal action will be determined based on its findings. The case underscores severe lapses in workplace safety and the abuse of power by individuals in senior positions.
The arrest of high-profile corporate figures in Udaipur for such a grave crime has sparked widespread outrage and calls for swift justice, highlighting the urgent need for safer environments for women employees.
