The victims have been identified as Pankaj, aged 27, and his brother-in-law Ranjan Bharti, aged 22. According to police reports, both men were riding a motorcycle near Gejna More, within the jurisdiction of the Hunterganj police station. The accident took place around 10 pm when an unidentifiable vehicle struck their bike, causing immediate fatalities at the scene.

Hunterganj police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Kumar provided further details, stating that the victims were returning from a wedding ceremony at the time of the accident. Pankaj was a resident of Humajang panchayat in the Pratappur block of Chatra district. Ranjan Bharti hailed from the Imamganj police station limits in Bihar. The two men were connected by family ties, as Pankaj had married Ranjan's sister just nine months prior to the accident, making the loss even more poignant for their loved ones.
Following the incident, the bodies were transported for a postmortem examination. On Tuesday, after the necessary procedures were completed, the remains were handed over to the grieving family members for last rites.
