Gurgaon was shaken by two separate and tragic incidents on Tuesday, as police discovered the bodies of two young men who had died by hanging in different parts of the city. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
Manager Found Dead in Sector 38 PG
In the first case, a 29-year-old manager working for the logistics firm Delhivery was found deceased inside his paying guest accommodation located in Sector 38. The incident came to light on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Pratik Pandey, a native of Kolkata, West Bengal. Police stated that the alarm was raised after a friend grew concerned when Pandey did not respond to repeated phone calls. The caretaker of the PG facility also noted that Pandey had not left his room in the morning, which was unusual.
A police team was called to the scene around 6:45 am. Upon arrival, they broke open the locked door and found Pandey hanging inside. An initial inspection of the room revealed no immediate signs of a struggle, and no suicide note was found during the preliminary search.
Officers are examining the circumstances from all angles. They are recording statements from the caretaker and other residents to establish a timeline of events. Investigators are also trying to determine if Pandey was under any personal or professional stress. His family members have been informed.
Complaint of Abetment Filed
Following the incident, Pandey's brother submitted a formal complaint alleging abetment to suicide against a woman. Police have not disclosed the identity of the person named in the complaint.
A senior officer confirmed the matter is under investigation and the alleged accused will be questioned. However, no role has been established as of now. Sources later indicated that police found a note in which the deceased stated he took the step of his own volition.
Inquest proceedings were initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The body was sent for a post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family for last rites.
Taxi Driver Found in New Palam Vihar
In a second, unrelated incident reported later on Tuesday, a 26-year-old taxi driver was found dead at his rented accommodation in the New Palam Vihar area.
The deceased has been identified as Sandeep, who hailed from Ujina in Nuh district. He had been working as a taxi driver for several years and had lived at the accommodation for the past six to seven months.
Police Investigations Ongoing
These back-to-back incidents have cast a pall over the city. Gurgaon police are conducting thorough investigations into both cases to understand the precise sequence of events and the factors that may have led to these tragic outcomes. The deaths highlight concerns over mental well-being and the pressures faced by young professionals and migrant workers in urban centers.
