Two Men Beaten in West Delhi Over Cattle Smuggling Suspicion
Two men assaulted in Janakpuri over smuggling suspicion

A violent incident unfolded in West Delhi's Janakpuri area on Tuesday, where two men were allegedly beaten up by a group of individuals who suspected them of being involved in cattle smuggling. The Delhi Police received a PCR call about the assault, leading to an immediate response and subsequent investigation.

Sequence of Events and Police Response

According to the police, the call came from a person who identified himself as Nirmal. The caller reported that people had caught suspected cattle smugglers near Janakpuri School and were taking them towards Najafgarh. A police team swiftly reached the location and discovered a damaged car abandoned on the roadside. Nirmal informed the officers that while passing through, he witnessed three to four people assaulting two men and vandalizing their vehicle, as stated by DCP (West) Darade Sharad Bhaskar.

Identity of the Victims and Their Business

The police inquiry revealed that the injured men were identified as Amaan and Mohammad Irfan. Their profession played a central role in the misunderstanding. The duo reportedly supplied buffalo meat daily from the Ghazipur slaughterhouse to three different shops—two located in Khyala and one in Bindapur. To substantiate their legal trade, they produced an MCD slaughterhouse receipt dated January 6, which mentioned one buffalo in the name of Nabeel, who is Amaan's brother.

Police further claimed that Nabeel had also supplied meat to the same shops on Monday. The fateful incident occurred when Amaan and Irfan were returning home after completing their deliveries for the day.

The Confrontation and Assault

The investigation points to a confrontation initiated by two men, Vishal and Gopal, who allegedly stopped Amaan and Irfan on suspicion of cow smuggling. A quarrel ensued, which quickly attracted more people to the scene. The situation escalated into a physical assault on the two meat suppliers.

Both injured men were examined at a hospital following the attack. The police also stated that four other individuals—Tarun Solanki, Niranjan Pathak, Lokesh, and Aashu—were being questioned. These four are alleged to have taken the injured men to Ranhola. The authorities have confirmed that legal action is currently underway in the case.
