Two Killed in Late-Night Truck-Trailer Crash on Delhi-Katra Expressway Near Bahadurgarh
In a tragic late-night incident, two persons lost their lives after a speeding truck collided with a stationary trailer on the Delhi-Katra Expressway near Bahadurgarh town in Jhajjar district. Police confirmed the details on Friday, highlighting the severity of the crash that occurred in the early hours.
Details of the Fatal Accident
The accident took place around 1 am near Nilothi village. According to preliminary reports, the truck was moving at high speed when it ploughed into the parked trailer from behind. The impact was devastating, completely crushing the truck's cabin and trapping both the driver and his helper inside.
Rescue teams and police personnel rushed to the spot immediately upon receiving the alert. They launched a challenging operation to retrieve the victims, as the mangled cabin made access extremely difficult. After considerable effort, the bodies were eventually extricated using hydraulic equipment and a gas cutter.
Victims and Investigation
The deceased driver has been identified as Gurmeet Singh, a 26-year-old resident of Bathinda in Punjab. The identity of the helper is yet to be established, officials stated. The bodies have been sent to the civil hospital in Bahadurgarh for postmortem examination, and the families of the victims have been informed.
Police have registered a case under Sections 106 and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The preliminary investigation points to overspeeding and negligence as the likely causes of this fatal crash. Authorities are continuing their probe to gather more details and ensure a thorough examination of the circumstances.
