Both individuals fell onto the road, with Rohtas suffering a severe head injury accompanied by heavy bleeding. The motorcyclist immediately fled the spot, leaving the victims in a critical condition.
Police promptly rushed Rohtas to the civil hospital in Phase-6, and he was later referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh. Despite medical efforts, he passed away during treatment on January 26. Based on the son's account, authorities have registered a case against the unidentified motorcyclist and are actively working to identify the perpetrator.
Second Incident: Car Hits Lottery Vendor Near Golf Club Cut
In another heartbreaking incident in the same area, Tinku, a lottery ticket vendor from Banur, lost his life after being struck by a speeding car near the Golf Club cut in Phase 11. Tinku had left for work on January 24 but failed to return home, raising concerns among his family members.
His brother, Suraj, a resident of Phase 11, discovered Tinku's motorcycle parked near the accident site the following day. Preliminary investigations suggest that a Maruti Swift car, moving at high speed, hit Tinku from behind while he was standing by the roadside. The driver briefly stopped at the scene but fled as a crowd began to gather.
An unidentified passerby took the critically injured man to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32, Chandigarh, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. This incident has left the community in shock, emphasizing the dangers posed by reckless driving in residential and commercial zones.
