A tragic road accident on the Agra-Kanpur National Highway in Etawah claimed two lives and left five others with serious injuries early Monday morning. The incident occurred in the Jaswantnagar area, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Severe Impact Traps Occupants in Destroyed Vehicle
The collision was so forceful that the front portion of the car was completely destroyed upon impact. Occupants became trapped inside the mangled wreckage, requiring significant effort from rescue teams to extricate them. The accident took place in front of Jonai village, where a speeding car rammed into the rear of a truck trailer carrying rice from Kanpur to Gujarat.
Police Investigation Reveals Details of the Crash
According to police reports, the car suddenly went out of control while approaching the trailer from behind. Station House Officer Kamal Bhati confirmed that high speed was a major factor in the severe damage sustained by the car. Passers-by immediately alerted authorities, prompting a police team to rush to the scene and initiate rescue operations.
Victims Identified as Wedding Guests Returning to Delhi
All occupants of the car were residents of Islampur village in the Sarila police station area of Hamirpur district. The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Chetram and 45-year-old Sukhwasi, both of whom died on the spot. Among the injured, Chetram's wife Girija Devi remains in critical condition, while Rajendra, Anjali, Rajesh, and Reshma Devi sustained various injuries.
Suresh, brother of one of the deceased, revealed that the group was returning to Delhi after attending a wedding ceremony in their village. The tragic accident occurred as they reached near Jaswantnagar on their journey home.
Medical Response and Legal Proceedings
All injured individuals were referred to the medical college for urgent treatment. Police have taken custody of both bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination as part of standard investigative procedures following fatal accidents.
