Two Killed, 13 Injured in Tragic Highway Collision in Rajasthan
A devastating road accident on the Nimbahera-Mangalwad State Highway in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district resulted in two fatalities and left thirteen individuals injured. The collision occurred late Friday night near Napawali village under the jurisdiction of the Nikumbh police station.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The accident involved a container truck and a pickup van. According to Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi, the pickup was carrying over 25 passengers, including women and children, who were residents of Bambori village in Pratapgarh district. They had traveled to Mawli in Udaipur district for a religious pilgrimage to worship Dasha Mata and were returning to their village when the container rammed into their vehicle.
The impact of the collision was severe, completely destroying the pickup van. Eyewitnesses reported that screams and cries erupted at the scene as the vehicle was crushed. The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Jhooma Kanwar and the pickup driver, Onkar Singh.
Immediate Response and Rescue Efforts
Local residents rushed to the accident site upon hearing the commotion and worked quickly to extricate the injured from the wreckage. The injured were initially transported to Nimbahera hospital for urgent medical treatment. Due to the severity of some injuries, several critically wounded individuals were later referred to a hospital in Udaipur for advanced care.
Upon receiving information about the crash, Nikumbh station house officer Ram Singh arrived at the location with his police team to manage the situation and begin the investigation.

Following the tragedy, relatives of the victims, along with office-bearers from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress, reached the hospital to offer assistance and support to the affected families. This bipartisan response highlighted the community's solidarity in the face of the disaster.
The bodies of the deceased were kept in the mortuary of the district hospital. Post-mortem examinations were conducted on Saturday, after which the remains were handed over to the grieving family members for last rites.
