In a swift response to a tragic incident, the Chandigarh Police has apprehended two juveniles within 24 hours of the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old teenager in the Maloya area. The police have confirmed that a knife used in the crime has been recovered from their possession, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

According to official statements, the police received a message from the PGIMER police post on January 20 at around 9:01 PM, reporting that Mohit, aged 18, had been admitted after being stabbed. Despite receiving immediate medical treatment, Mohit succumbed to his injuries, leading to the registration of a murder FIR at the Maloya police station on Wednesday.

During the investigation, the statement of the victim's brother, Sandeep, was recorded. Sandeep revealed that Mohit had previously informed him over the phone about receiving death threats from a resident of Behlourpur in Mohali district. This information provided crucial leads for the police.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Crime

The incident unfolded on January 20 when Mohit was standing with his cousin. The accused, along with his friends, allegedly abused Mohit and stabbed him in the back. The victim was rushed to PGIMER in a private Alto car, but he was later declared dead upon arrival.

The two juveniles involved in the crime were apprehended on January 21 and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Sector 25, Chandigarh. A team from the Maloya police station, headed by SHO Inspector Jasbir Singh, claimed to have cracked the case, highlighting the efficiency of the police response.

Meanwhile, the police have identified other co-accused involved in the incident. Raids are currently being conducted, and officials have assured that the remaining suspects will be arrested soon.
