A devastating road accident on the Gaman Bridge in East Godavari district has resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning near Pole No.14 on the Kovvur side of the bridge, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The victims have been identified as Tatapudi Subbarao, aged 37, and another person named Koti. Both were residents of Duddukuru Village in Devarapalli Mandal. They were traveling on a motorcycle from Duddukuru Village towards Rajahmundry when the accident unfolded.

According to preliminary reports, the motorcycle rider attempted to overtake a tractor that was proceeding ahead of them on the bridge. In the process, the motorcycle lost its balance, leading to a catastrophic chain of events.

Immediate Aftermath and Response

The motorcycle came under the rear wheels of a lorry that was traveling from Rajahmundry towards Kovvur. The impact was severe, causing grievous and fatal injuries to both the rider and the pillion rider. Tragically, they died on the spot instantaneously.

Upon receiving information about the accident, police personnel rushed to the scene to manage the situation and initiate an investigation. The authorities acted swiftly to secure the area and gather evidence.

The dead bodies were carefully shifted to the mortuary of the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kovvur for preservation. This step is part of the standard medico-legal procedures that follow such incidents, ensuring proper documentation and examination.
