According to official reports from the Pasteur Beat House, the incident took place on January 21 at approximately 6:30 PM. Two pedestrians were reportedly assaulted by individuals riding a two-wheeler near the CM Connect building in Golflinks. During the altercation, the perpetrators snatched the victims' mobile phones before fleeing the scene.
The victims promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) on January 22, which initiated the police investigation. The complaint provided crucial details that helped law enforcement officials identify and track down the suspects.
Police Action and Arrests
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that the police successfully apprehended the two accused individuals from different locations in Shillong. The first suspect, identified as Kitbok Thabah alias Koi (29 years old), was arrested from the Golflinks Khliehshnong locality. The second accused, Daniel Syiemlieh (23 years old), was taken into custody from the Nongmynsong Dongkamon area.
During the arrest operation, police officials managed to recover the stolen mobile phones that had been snatched from the victims. Additionally, authorities seized the scooter that was allegedly used during the commission of the crime, which serves as important evidence in the ongoing investigation.
