Twin Sisters Allegedly Murder Cousin in Devbhoomi Dwarka Village
In a tragic and shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through a quiet village in Gujarat, a 25-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his twin second cousins in what appears to be a case of extreme retaliation. The incident occurred on Sunday in Ramnagar village of Khambhalia taluka, located in the Devbhoomi Dwarka district.
Victim Identified as Married Farmer
The deceased has been identified as Jashwant Chopra, a married man who was engaged in agricultural activities alongside his family. According to police reports and the complaint filed by his father, the alleged perpetrators are his second cousins, twin sisters Kiran and Kajal Chopra, both aged 23 years.
Violent Attack with Bladed Weapon
Police authorities revealed that Jashwant Chopra was subjected to a brutal attack. He was reportedly struck on the head with a bladed weapon before being strangled. The motive behind this horrific act, as alleged by the police, stems from Jashwant attempting to force himself on one of the sisters, with whom he had previously been in a relationship.
Father Discovers Son's Body in Locked Room
The sequence of events leading to the discovery is equally distressing. Jashwant's father, Ashwin Chopra (51), a farmer, stated in his police complaint that on Sunday morning, he, along with his wife and daughters, had left for their farm work, leaving Jashwant alone at home.
Around 3:30 PM, Ashwin received an urgent call from his cousin, Ravji Chopra, instructing him to return home immediately. Upon arrival with his family, they found Ravji's house locked. They were initially taken to a neighbor's residence where community leaders were present, before being led back to Ravji's house.
After gaining access to a locked room within the house, the family made a horrifying discovery. Jashwant was found lying in a pool of blood, with a plastic fertilizer bag partially covering his face. Emergency services were summoned immediately, but Jashwant was declared dead at the scene.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Khambhalia division deputy superintendent of police, Vismay Manaseta, confirmed that the twin sisters, Kiran and Kajal Chopra, have been arrested following the incident. The police are actively collecting evidence to ascertain the potential involvement of their father, Ravji Chopra, in the crime. According to police sources, the sisters have allegedly confessed to killing Jashwant.
Alleged Motive: Past Relationship and Threats
Investigations have uncovered a complex background to the tragedy. Police sources indicate that Jashwant Chopra and Kiran Chopra had been involved in a romantic relationship for approximately three years. This relationship reportedly ended after Jashwant got married.
On the day of the incident, Jashwant allegedly visited the sisters' house and demanded that the relationship with Kiran continue. He is said to have threatened to circulate compromising photographs and videos if she refused. The situation escalated when he allegedly tried to force himself on her, leading to the fatal attack by the sisters.
Legal Action Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Ashwin Chopra has lodged a formal complaint at the Jamkhambhalia police station against his cousin Ravji Chopra and his daughters, Kiran and Kajal. The complaint has been registered under Sections 103(1) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, marking a serious legal proceeding in this distressing case.
The local community remains in a state of shock as police continue their thorough investigation into all aspects of this family tragedy that turned deadly.
