Surat Police Crack Rs 17 Lakh Bungalow Theft Case, Arrest Accused Within Hours

In a swift operation, the Varachha police in Surat have apprehended a 22-year-old man in connection with a high-value theft from a bungalow in Sadhna Society. The incident, which resulted in the loss of valuables worth approximately Rs 17 lakh, was solved within a few hours, showcasing the efficiency of the local law enforcement.

Details of the Theft and Arrest

The accused, identified as Sohil Parmar, was arrested near Anand district while he was travelling to his native place in Bhavnagar. The theft occurred on Friday night at the residence of Keyur Kheni, a 38-year-old hotelier living near the Antroli bullet train station. According to police reports, the family had retired to bed around midnight, unaware of the impending crime.

Parmar allegedly entered the premises at 1:30 AM, noticing that the security guard, Chandan, was asleep. Initially intending to steal a purse or mobile, he discovered the keys to the home under the guard's pillow, which facilitated his access to the property.

Stolen Items and Recovery

Once inside, Parmar reportedly accessed multiple rooms, including the guest room, a bedroom, and the temple. The stolen items included cameras, two mobile phones, expensive watches, goggles, gold and silver ornaments, and a substantial amount of cash totaling Rs 10 lakh. The theft took place while Kheni and his family were sleeping in other parts of the house.

Keyur Kheni discovered the missing valuables at 8 AM and immediately checked the CCTV footage. After confirming the theft, he informed the police, who sprang into action promptly.

Police Investigation and Swift Action

Police Inspector RB Gojiya stated, "As soon as we received information at 10 AM, we formed dedicated teams and utilized both human and technical surveillance methods. This coordinated effort led to the arrest of the accused within three hours at Tarapur in Anand district." Parmar was apprehended while travelling on a state transport bus to Bhavnagar.

In a significant development, all the stolen items have been successfully recovered by the police, providing relief to the victim. This case highlights the importance of vigilance and quick response in tackling property crimes in urban areas like Surat.
