A shocking case of familial violence has emerged from Prayagraj, where a man was arrested on Monday evening for the alleged murder of his own father, sister, and young niece. The gruesome crime, rooted in a bitter property dispute, has sent ripples through the Lokapur Bisani village under the Mauaima police station limits.
The Missing Complaint That Unraveled the Crime
The incident came to light after Mukund Patel, a resident of Lokapur Bisani village, approached the Mauaima police with a missing persons report. He expressed deep concern for his father, 55-year-old Ram Singh, his 30-year-old sister Sadhana, and his 14-year-old niece Astha. In his complaint, Mukund did not hold back his suspicions, pointing a finger directly at his elder brother, Mukesh Patel. He explicitly told the police that Mukesh was capable of harming their family members.
Confession Reveals a Chilling Sequence of Events
Acting swiftly on the complaint, a joint team from Mauaima police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) detained Mukesh Patel for questioning. During interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed to the triple homicide. The motive, as revealed, was a long-simmering property dispute. Mukesh told investigators that his father had registered a four-beegha property solely in the name of his younger son, Mukund.
Enraged by this perceived injustice, Mukesh had demanded a share of 10 biswa of land from his father, which was refused. This refusal allegedly pushed him over the edge. On January 2, Mukesh went to his father's house and, in a fit of rage, tried to strangle him. He did not stop there.
Bodies Dumped in Well Under Cover of Fog
Following the violent altercation, Mukesh hatched a plan to dispose of the evidence. Taking advantage of the dense fog on the night of January 2, he carried the bodies of his father, sister, and niece and dumped them into a well located near the house. In a desperate attempt to conceal the crime, he covered the well's opening with straw, a senior police officer stated.
Guided by the accused's detailed confession, the police team recovered the three bodies from the well. In a significant breakthrough, they also seized the axe believed to have been used in the commission of the murders. The recoveries have solidified the case against the accused, who now faces serious charges for his alleged actions.
The arrest has left the village community in a state of shock and mourning, highlighting how deeply entrenched property disputes can tear families apart with tragic consequences. The police have assured a thorough investigation and swift legal proceedings.
