Social Media Dispute Escalates into Public Firing Incident in Delhi
Panic spread through outer Delhi's Sultanpuri area late Wednesday night after a group of individuals allegedly opened fire in the air, an incident police have linked to a heated social media feud. The sudden eruption of violence has raised concerns about public safety in the locality, with authorities swiftly responding to the scene.
Police Respond to Late-Night Disturbance
According to official reports, the Sultanpuri police station received a PCR call at approximately 10:44 PM on Wednesday regarding a firing incident. A police team was immediately dispatched to the location, where they encountered Irfan, a 29-year-old resident of Sultanpuri, who provided crucial details about the event.
Irfan, who operates a momos stall in the A-4 Block area, informed the officers that a few individuals suddenly arrived at his food stall. Without warning, they began throwing food items and creating a significant ruckus. During this chaotic altercation, one of the accused allegedly fired a single shot into the air before the entire group fled the spot, leaving behind a scene of fear and confusion.
Evidence and Investigation Underway
The police conducted a thorough examination of the area and recovered one empty cartridge from the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, which could have had far more severe consequences given the use of a firearm in a public space.
Preliminary inquiries by the authorities suggest that the firing was triggered by an ongoing personal rivalry between two groups. This enmity had recently escalated on the popular social media platform Instagram, highlighting how online disputes can spill over into real-world violence. The accused and the complainant are known to each other and have reportedly shared a long-standing history of conflict.
Legal Action and Manhunt Launched
In response to the incident, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sultanpuri police station. The police have confirmed that the identities of the accused have been established, and multiple teams have been deployed to apprehend them. This proactive measure aims to ensure that such incidents do not recur and that justice is served promptly.
The Sultanpuri firing serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers when social media disputes turn violent. As the investigation continues, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The police are committed to maintaining law and order in the area, with efforts focused on preventing similar occurrences in the future.
