Chandan sustained a critical bullet injury to his neck in the assault.
He was initially rushed to the Charpokhari primary health centre for emergency care. Due to the severity of his condition, he was subsequently transferred to Sadar hospital in Ara and later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for advanced treatment. Medical officials at PMCH reported that he is in stable condition but requires ongoing monitoring.

Chandan revealed that the attack stemmed from a dispute that began three days prior over a social media post. He had an altercation with a youth from his village, who is also a relative, after the accused used abusive language in response to Chandan's online content. "The accused youth used abusive language on my post. When I opposed his objectionable language, he threatened me with dire consequences," Chandan stated from his hospital bed in Ara, underscoring how a digital argument quickly turned physical and life-threatening.

Charpokhari Station House Officer Santosh Kumar Singh confirmed that authorities have taken Chandan's statement and are actively pursuing the case. "The statement of the youth has been taken.
