Sivaganga Murder Case: Man Arrested After Dumping Victim's Body in Deep Quarry

In a shocking crime from Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu, a 21-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of a 52-year-old woman who had been missing for over a month. The accused, identified as Saravanakumar from Koodakovil in Madurai district, allegedly killed the victim, Saraswathi, a resident of Sottathatti village, following a dispute over marriage.

Investigation Unfolds Missing Person Case

The case came to light when Saraswathi's brother, Niraikulathan, filed a complaint on February 17, prompting Thiruppuvanam police to register a case and initiate an investigation. Police sources revealed that during the probe, it was discovered that Saravanakumar was in a relationship with Saraswathi. Further interrogation of the accused disclosed that he had invited her to his farm in Koodakovil on February 11.

According to police, a heated argument erupted between the two regarding marriage plans, during which Saravanakumar allegedly assaulted and killed Saraswathi. To hide the crime, he then dumped her body into a nearby deep quarry pit that was filled with water.

Since the quarry pit was extremely deep, authorities have called in a diving team from Chennai to recover the body. Police have also identified the crime scene and recovered the weapon used in the murder.

Following Saravanakumar's confession and the recovery of evidence, police have altered the case to a murder investigation. The accused is currently remanded in judicial custody.
