Sikh Woman Stabbed, Robbed in Patna During Prakash Parv; Rs 8,000 Stolen
Sikh Woman Attacked, Robbed in Patna During Guru Gobind Singh Celebrations

A Sikh woman, who had traveled to Patna from Punjab to participate in the Prakash Parv celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, became the victim of a violent robbery on Sunday morning. The assailants stabbed her and fled with cash and a mobile phone.

Violent Attack in a Narrow Lane

The victim, identified as Uttam Preet Kaur, a resident of Gurdaspur in Punjab, was walking with her aunt, Sarvjeet Kaur. They were moving from Takht Shri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara towards Bal Leela Gurdwara via Sankin Gali when the attack occurred. Two unidentified men assaulted them with a knife, snatching Rs 8,000 in cash and a cellphone during the struggle.

Uttam Preet Kaur sustained injuries while trying to resist the robbers. She was promptly taken to the Nalanda Medical College Hospital in Patna for treatment. After receiving first aid, she was discharged from the hospital.

Police Investigation Underway

Law enforcement authorities have registered a formal complaint. Chowk station house officer Dinesh Kumar confirmed the filing of case number 559/25 and stated that an investigation is actively progressing. The police are examining CCTV footage from the vicinity and conducting raids to apprehend the accused. Officials have expressed confidence that arrests will be made soon.

This incident is particularly alarming as it took place despite heightened security arrangements for the Prakash Parv festival. The Patna District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police had held multiple meetings specifically to ensure the safety and security of devotees during the religious observance.

A Troubling Pattern for Devotees

This attack follows another distressing event involving a Sikh pilgrim from Punjab. Earlier, on December 25, the body of an elderly devotee, Kulwant Singh (70), was discovered in bushes near a gurdwara. Preliminary investigations by police suggest he may have succumbed to the harsh cold weather.

The back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns about the safety of visitors, especially those who travel long distances to participate in religious events in Patna. The local administration faces mounting pressure to enhance protective measures and deliver swift justice in the robbery case.
