Borivali Resident Assaulted by Shiv Sena (Shinde) Workers Over Campaigning Dispute
Shiv Sena Workers Booked for Assault in Borivali

In a disturbing incident highlighting the tensions surrounding election campaigning, the MHB Colony Police in Mumbai have registered a formal case against several members of the Shiv Sena's Shinde faction. The First Information Report (FIR) names 8 to 10 party workers for allegedly assaulting a local resident of Borivali after he objected to them entering his property without permission.

Altercation Turns Violent on New Link Road

The episode unfolded on Monday around 6:30 in the evening near New Link Road in the Borivali West area. According to police reports, workers from the Shiv Sena (Shinde group) were engaged in door-to-door campaigning for the upcoming civic elections. During this activity, they entered the property of a man identified as Vijay Patil.

Patil reportedly took strong objection to the party members stepping onto his premises for political canvassing. This initial disagreement quickly escalated into a heated verbal altercation between Patil and the campaign team.

From Argument to Physical Assault

The situation deteriorated rapidly, turning violent. It is alleged that the party workers, angered by Patil's objections, began to physically attack him. Witnesses described that the group rained blows on the Borivali resident, leaving him injured. The assault marked a severe escalation of what began as a dispute over property access during electioneering.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

Following the incident, authorities at the MHB Colony police station were alerted. After recording the complaint and initial statements, the police officially registered an FIR against the accused party workers. Investigations are currently underway to identify all individuals involved and ascertain the complete sequence of events. The case underscores the sometimes volatile nature of ground-level political campaigning in Mumbai.

This incident raises concerns about the conduct of political workers during election seasons and the rights of citizens to privacy and security within their own homes. The police have assured that the legal process will be followed diligently.
