Supreme Court Upholds Bail Denial for Celebrity Fitness Trainer in Murder Case
The Supreme Court of India has declined to interfere with the Bombay High Court's order rejecting bail for celebrity fitness trainer Gaurav Bidre, who is facing charges in connection with the murder of government college professor Gauri Achari. The apex court has, however, issued a directive to the trial court to expedite the judicial proceedings in this high-profile case.

Gaurav Bidre approached the Supreme Court challenging the Bombay High Court's January 2026 order that denied him bail. This marked his fourth unsuccessful attempt to secure bail through the judicial system. In his petition, Bidre's legal counsel argued that the prolonged delay in conducting the trial violated his fundamental right to a speedy trial, thereby warranting his release on bail.
The Supreme Court bench comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and N V Anjaria delivered a significant observation regarding the case. "Considering the nature of accusation against the petitioner, and for the fact that the trial is in progress, we are not inclined to entertain this special leave petition," the justices stated in their ruling. They further emphasized, "However, the trial court is directed to expedite the trial."
