Jhunjhunu Transport Department Imposes Heavy Fine on Three Toll Plazas
The transport department in Jhunjhunu cracked down hard on three toll plazas operating in the Sadulpur area of Churu district. Officials discovered serious violations of road safety rules during a recent inspection.
Massive Penalty for Safety Lapses
Transport inspector Robin Singh led the inspection team on Saturday. They found multiple irregularities at the toll plazas. The department imposed a total fine of Rs 25 lakh for these violations.
Singh explained that the three toll plazas operate on the 133-kilometer road from Sadulpur to Sardarshahar via Taranagar. The inspection revealed these facilities were running completely against prescribed standards.
Critical Safety Features Missing
The investigation uncovered several alarming deficiencies. Necessary signage boards were not installed at the toll plazas. Proper edge line markings on the road were absent. Reflector signs for nighttime safety were also missing.
These omissions significantly increased accident risks for motorists. The lack of basic safety measures created dangerous conditions for travelers.
Emergency Services Completely Absent
The most serious finding involved emergency service arrangements. Rules mandate specific facilities at toll plazas. These include:
- Ambulance services
- Hydro crane availability
- Highway patrolling units
None of these essential services were available at the three toll plazas. This negligence could delay emergency response during accidents.
Multiple Violations Identified
Inspectors documented deficiencies across 25 different points. The comprehensive inspection covered all aspects of toll plaza operations. Each violation contributed to the substantial penalty amount.
The transport department's action sends a strong message about road safety enforcement. Authorities emphasized that toll operators must comply with all safety regulations.
