Ratlam Police Arrest Six in Connection with Fatal Assault on Truck Driver Brothers
In a tragic incident near Bilpank Phanta, Ratlam police have made significant progress in a case involving the fatal assault of a truck driver and the critical injury of his brother. The attack occurred late on March 19, leading to swift police action resulting in the arrest of six individuals and the identification of a juvenile suspect.
Details of the Violent Incident
The assault took place when the two brothers, both truck drivers, halted their separate vehicles near a tea stall at Bilpank Phanta during their journey. According to police reports, a group of youths initiated an argument that quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. The attackers allegedly used sticks, an iron rod, and physical blows including kicks and punches to assault the brothers.
Both victims sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to Ratlam Government Medical College for emergency treatment. Tragically, one of the brothers succumbed to his injuries during medical care, while the other remains hospitalized in critical condition. The dying declaration recorded from the surviving brother in the ICU provided crucial initial evidence for the investigation.
Swift Police Response and Arrests
Ratlam police acted promptly by analyzing CCTV footage from the area and examining video evidence to identify those involved in the assault. Within just 12 hours of the incident, six accused individuals were tracked down and arrested. The arrested persons have been identified as Rohit, Rameshwar, Jagdish, Kanhaiyalal, Tulsiram, and Bhoora, all residents of Chikaliya village in Bilpank.
Police have also seized three motorcycles, two iron rods, and a wired stick believed to have been used in the violent attack. One additional accused is currently undergoing medical treatment and has yet to be taken into custody, while a juvenile has been identified in connection with the crime.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is actively underway. Bilpank police station in-charge Ayyub Khan credited the successful arrests to coordinated fieldwork and rapid analysis of available CCTV footage. The police continue to pursue all leads to ensure complete justice in this disturbing case of roadside violence.
