Rajkot Man Fatally Attacked in Petty Mobile Phone Argument
A tragic incident unfolded in Rajkot late on Wednesday night, resulting in the death of a 33-year-old man following a violent altercation over a mobile phone. The victim, identified as Rahul Vishwakarma, was allegedly bludgeoned to death near the KKV overbridge in the city, according to police reports.
Brother Lodges FIR, Suspect Arrested
The deceased's younger brother, Sahil Vishwakarma, took immediate action by lodging a formal complaint at the Malaviya Nagar police station against the accused, Ajayrajsinh Jadeja. Inspector J R Desai confirmed that the suspect has been apprehended by the authorities in connection with the case.
In the First Information Report (FIR), Sahil detailed that Rahul, who worked part-time at a hotel, had left their home around 8:30 PM on Wednesday to head to his workplace. The family was later shocked to receive news from the police on Thursday morning that Rahul had been admitted to Civil Hospital with severe head injuries and had succumbed to his wounds there.
Investigation Reveals Petty Dispute as Motive
Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicate that the murder originated from a seemingly trivial argument. Investigators revealed that Rahul had reportedly asked Jadeja for his mobile phone to make a call, as he did not possess one himself. The situation escalated when Rahul allegedly failed to return the device promptly, leading to a heated argument that turned violent.
During the altercation, Jadeja is accused of attacking Rahul, resulting in fatal injuries. Police have seized relevant CCTV footage from the vicinity to aid in the ongoing investigation and have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
