Pune Police Seal 3 Spas for Flesh Trade, Crackdown Continues
Pune Police Seal 3 Spas Over Prostitution Rackets

In a decisive move against illegal activities, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have sealed three establishments for a full year after confirming they were fronts for prostitution. The action follows a direct order from Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey.

Raids Uncover Illegal Operations

A specialized team from the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch, under the leadership of Senior Inspector Nitin Gite, conducted targeted raids last year. The operation focused on two spas located in the Sangvi area and one in Hinjewadi. During these raids, investigators gathered concrete evidence that these businesses were not offering legitimate wellness services but were instead operating as hubs for organized flesh trade.

Official Order Leads to Sealing

Following the raids and subsequent investigation, senior inspectors from the Sangvi and Hinjewadi police stations compiled detailed proposals. These documents recommended the sealing of the implicated spas for a period of one year. After a thorough evaluation of the evidence and proposals, Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey formally issued the sealing order. This legal step empowered the police to shut down the three establishments immediately.

Sustained Crackdown on Sex Rackets

This recent action is part of a broader, sustained campaign by the Pimpri Chinchwad police against illegal sex trade operations. Since 2023, the police have sealed a total of 26 locations suspected of housing prostitution rackets. A breakdown of this number reveals a consistent effort: 12 places were sealed in 2023, 8 in the following year, and 6 so far in 2024. The types of premises sealed include a mix of 16 spas, 8 lodges, and 2 residential flats, indicating that the crackdown spans various kinds of establishments misused for this illegal trade.

The police action sends a strong message that such illegal activities will not be tolerated in the region. The use of sealing orders for extended periods is a significant deterrent, aiming to disrupt the business model of these rackets and reclaim public spaces for lawful use.
