The Dighi police in Pune have launched a search operation to locate a man who allegedly drove away with his employer's car and never returned. The incident, which occurred in the Dudulgaon area, has left the car owner in a lurch after months of futile follow-ups.
The Pretext and The Disappearance
The driver, whose identity is currently under investigation, took the vehicle from its owner in October of this year. He reportedly gave a convincing reason for needing the car, stating he was taking it to get a CNG kit fitted. Trusting his employee, the owner handed over the keys.
However, what seemed like a routine errand turned into a prolonged disappearance. Days turned into weeks, and the driver failed to bring the car back to its rightful owner in Dudulgaon. Despite the employer making repeated attempts to contact and follow up with the driver, all efforts proved unsuccessful.
Police Complaint Lodged After Months of Wait
After exhausting all options and realizing the driver had no intention of returning, the frustrated car owner finally decided to take legal action. On Tuesday, he approached the Dighi police station and formally lodged a complaint against the absconding driver.
The police have registered the case and are now actively searching for the suspect. The complaint details the sequence of events, from the initial pretext of the CNG fitting to the subsequent failure to return the vehicle, which now forms the basis of a potential theft case.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Alert
Authorities are investigating all leads to trace both the missing car and the driver. Such incidents serve as a cautionary tale for vehicle owners, especially those who employ private drivers.
The Dighi police have urged the public to remain vigilant and verify the credentials of individuals entrusted with valuable property. They are also examining similar past complaints to see if there is a pattern or if the suspect has been involved in other fraudulent activities in the Pune region.
