Extortion Call and Firing Target Pune Businessman
A Pune-based businessman, Amol Rajendra Chamadai, who runs a steel products business, received an extortion call on Monday from an unidentified person claiming to be a member of the Bishnoi gang. Later that evening, shots were fired at his industrial establishment in the Fursungi area. Police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons and are investigating a possible link between the two incidents.
Details of the Extortion Call
According to police, Chamadai received a phone call at around 4:30 pm on Monday from a person who identified himself as 'Arzu Bishnoi' and demanded money while threatening him. The caller did not specify the amount demanded. Chamadai initially approached the Wanwadi police station, but the matter was transferred to the Fursungi police station as it fell under their jurisdiction.
Firing Incident at the Factory
While Chamadai was at the Fursungi police station filing his complaint, four rounds were allegedly fired at his establishment in the Fursungi area at 8:10 pm. No injuries were reported. Police confirmed that the factory was unoccupied at the time of the firing.
Police Investigation
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the identity of the culprits and determine whether the extortion call and the firing incident are connected. A senior police official stated, 'We are looking into both incidents and examining call records and CCTV footage to identify the suspects.' An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

The Bishnoi gang, named after its founder Lawrence Bishnoi, is a notorious organized crime syndicate based in Rajasthan. The gang has been involved in several high-profile extortion and murder cases across India. This incident adds to the growing concern over gang activity in the Pune region.
