A 54-year-old property dealer was discovered dead in his office in Sector 26, Noida, on Sunday, in an alleged suicide case linked to ongoing family disputes, police reported. The deceased, identified as Phool Singh, owned a property office in the area.
According to authorities, Singh failed to return home on Saturday night, prompting his family to search for him. Unable to locate him, they went to his office, where they found him hanging from a ceiling fan. Police were alerted and arrived at the scene, securing it before sending the body for post-mortem examination.
A suicide note recovered from the office indicated that Singh was under distress due to family issues, officials stated. A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that a complaint had recently been filed against Singh at the Sector 39 police station by his daughter-in-law, who alleged that he had been pressuring her for advances. In the note, Singh reportedly denied these allegations, calling them baseless.
“There were some disputes within the family, which have been mentioned in the note. We are verifying all facts and examining the circumstances surrounding the death,” said Arvind Kumar, SHO of Sector 20 police station. Police added that no case has been registered yet, and further investigation is underway.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing concern over the pressures of family conflicts. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and speak with relatives to piece together the events leading up to Singh’s death.
