The arrested burglars have been identified as Gaurav Kanojia, aged 24 and a resident of Attarsuiya; Bakridul Seikh, also known as Popo, aged 21 from Jharkhand; Sameeul Seikh, alias Chotu, aged 20; and Parvez Alam, who goes by the aliases Tauseef and Nepali, aged 21 from Kareli. From their possession, authorities seized 450 grams of gold and 1.800 kilograms of silver, believed to be stolen goods.

Background of the Crime

Police investigations reveal that the burglars targeted a jewelry shop situated near Ganganagar, within the jurisdiction of the Cantt police station. The incident occurred on February 13, when the perpetrators broke the shop's shutter and made off with gold and silver ornaments valued at several lakhs of rupees. In response, the shop owner filed a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 331(4), 305(A), and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown criminals.

Police Investigation and Additional Recoveries

To address this crime, two dedicated police teams were formed to spearhead the crackdown. Their efforts not only led to the arrests but also resulted in the seizure of two motorcycles and a sharp-edged weapon that were allegedly used in the commission of the burglary. Authorities noted that all the arrested individuals had criminal records, indicating a history of illicit activities.

Ongoing Manhunt for Accomplices

While four suspects are now in custody, the police are actively searching for two additional accomplices who remain at large. This development underscores the ongoing nature of the investigation as law enforcement works to fully dismantle the criminal network involved.

The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of joint police efforts in combating property crimes and recovering stolen assets in Prayagraj.
