Major Drug Bust in Visakhapatnam: Police Seize 100 Kilograms of Cannabis

In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district police have successfully seized a total of 100 kilograms of dry cannabis and apprehended four individuals in two distinct operations. The coordinated efforts highlight the authorities' intensified focus on curbing illegal drug activities in the region.

First Incident: Sileru Police Intercept Car with 75 Kg Ganja

The initial operation unfolded when the Sileru police, operating within the GK Veedhi mandal, intercepted a suspicious vehicle on the Sileru-Chitrakonda road. Acting on specific intelligence, officers conducted a thorough vehicle check and discovered approximately 75 kilograms of ganja concealed inside the car.

The three arrested individuals have been identified as S Gopi, M Venkateswara Rao, and K Anil. All three suspects are residents of Palnadu district. Preliminary investigations revealed that the trio had procured the substantial cannabis consignment from the Malkangiri district in the neighboring state of Odisha.

Authorities have registered a formal case and are actively pursuing further leads to identify and apprehend additional individuals connected to this illicit drug network. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to dismantle the broader supply chain.

Second Incident: GK Veedhi Police Nab Bike Rider with 25 Kg Ganja

In a separate but related incident, the GK Veedhi police arrested another suspect, identified as K Ramateja, near the GK Veedhi area. The arrest was made after police intercepted the accused, who was transporting approximately 25 kilograms of ganja on a motorcycle.

K Ramateja is a native of Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. The investigation uncovered that he had sourced the cannabis from Odisha with the explicit intention of transporting it back to his home district for distribution. Further scrutiny revealed that Ramateja had rented the motorcycle specifically to facilitate this illegal ganja trade operation.
