In a shocking incident in Pilibhit, four members of a family suffered severe burn injuries after a motorcycle's petrol tank exploded when it was allegedly set on fire by their relative inside their house. The incident occurred in the Gas Chauraha area of Pilibhit city around 3 am on Sunday, according to police reports.
Alcohol-Fueled Dispute Leads to Dangerous Blaze
Police investigation revealed that Laxmi Narayan Rathor, a fruit vendor, allegedly set his brother's motorcycle ablaze under the influence of alcohol. The situation escalated dramatically when the motorcycle's owner, Dammar Singh (42), his wife Yashoda Singh (36), and their nephews Rajan Singh (21) and Rahul Singh (19) attempted to douse the flames, leading to the catastrophic explosion.
Critical Condition and Medical Emergency
Hearing their desperate cries, other family members and neighbors rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured to Autonomous State Medical College. Medical professionals at the facility determined that Rajan and Rahul, who sustained approximately 70% burns, required specialized care due to their critical condition. Doctors referred both young men to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment.
Police Investigation Underway
Sungarhi station house officer (SHO) Naresh Kumar Tyagi confirmed that Dammar's sister-in-law Meera Singh has filed a formal complaint against Laxmi, who is currently on the run. "Police are conducting a thorough inquiry into the matter and will register a First Information Report after completing the preliminary investigation," SHO Tyagi stated, emphasizing the seriousness with which authorities are treating this domestic violence incident.
