In a significant crackdown on narcotics trade, Patna police have arrested two individuals and detained a minor for allegedly operating a drug network. The operation, conducted late Saturday night in the Salimpur police station area, led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of suspected narcotics and cash.
Swift Police Action Based on Secret Tip
Acting on confidential information about drug sales near the Durga temple on the old state highway close to Rukanpura village, the Salimpur police station quickly assembled a raid team. Barh SDPO-2 Ayush Srivastava stated that the team moved swiftly, adhering to all prescribed legal procedures during the operation.
Major Haul of Narcotics and Cash
The police first apprehended Neeraj Kumar (22), a resident of Bahapur. From his possession, authorities confiscated 145 capsules containing a substance resembling brown sugar, 160 grams of a suspicious white powder believed to be narcotics, and Rs 96,000 in cash. The arrest and recovery were made in the presence of a magistrate.
Following Neeraj's interrogation, the police team expanded its operation. Based on his disclosures, they arrested Sonu Kumar (24), from Vaishali district, and also detained a 15-year-old juvenile in conflict with law.
Network Dismantled, Accused in Judicial Custody
According to SDPO Srivastava, the trio was collectively running an organized network involved in the procurement and sale of brown sugar and other dry narcotic substances. All the accused have been sent to judicial custody following their arrest and detention. The police have confirmed that further investigation and legal action in the case are currently underway.
