A 28-year-old nurse was killed in Bengaluru on Wednesday after a container truck collided with her motorcycle, causing her to lose balance and fall onto the road. The truck then ran over her, resulting in fatal injuries, according to police.
Accident Details
The incident occurred around 8:30 AM on July 1, 2026, near the Peenya Industrial Area. The victim, identified as Priya R., was a nurse at a private hospital in the city. She was riding her motorcycle towards work when the container truck, traveling in the same direction, hit her from behind.
“The impact caused her to lose control and fall onto the road. The truck driver could not stop in time and ran over her, leading to severe head and chest injuries,” said a police officer from Peenya traffic police station.
Police Investigation
The truck driver, identified as Mahesh K., has been arrested and charged with causing death by negligence. Police are investigating whether the driver was speeding or under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The truck has been seized for further examination.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and healthcare workers, who are demanding better road safety measures in the area. “This is a tragic loss. Our colleague was a dedicated nurse who lost her life due to reckless driving. We urge authorities to install speed breakers and improve traffic enforcement,” said a representative from the hospital where Priya worked.
