Noida Murder: Woman Stabs Korean Partner After Altercation Over Drinking
Noida: Woman stabs live-in partner after fight over drinking

A romantic Saturday date night in Noida took a horrific turn, culminating in the alleged murder of a 47-year-old South Korean national by his 22-year-old live-in partner. The incident, which unfolded at their upscale apartment in Sector 150, has sent shockwaves through the community and is now under police investigation.

From Dinner Date to Deadly Altercation

The evening for Lum Jianna and Duck Hea Yuh began with drinks, shopping, and a dinner at a Korean restaurant. However, the mood soured after they returned to their flat at ATS Pious Hideways around 11 pm. According to police, the central point of conflict was Yuh's persistent drinking habit. Despite returning home, Yuh, who worked with a Greater Noida logistics company, continued to consume alcohol.

The situation escalated into a heated argument in the early hours of Sunday, around 3 am, when Yuh refused to go to sleep. Frustrated with his excessive drinking, Jianna reportedly threatened to leave the shared apartment if he did not change his ways. This ultimatum, however, triggered a violent response.

The Fatal Attack and Aftermath

Police officials stated that Jianna, during interrogation, claimed Yuh became aggressive upon hearing her threat. He allegedly picked up a knife from the dining table and threatened to kill her if she tried to leave. What followed was a physical struggle during which Jianna allegedly seized the same knife and stabbed Yuh repeatedly in the chest.

As Yuh collapsed, a panicked Jianna rushed out to seek help. Unable to communicate effectively, she called two of Yuh's colleagues—a driver and an accountant. Together, they took the critically injured Yuh to the Govt Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS). Tragically, he was declared dead upon arrival. Upon learning of his death, Jianna quietly left the hospital without informing anyone. The hospital later alerted the police on Sunday morning.

History of Discord and Judicial Proceedings

Further investigation revealed a troubled relationship. Jianna accused Yuh of physically assaulting her almost daily over trivial matters. Yuh's colleagues corroborated that there had been previous instances of fights between the couple, with Jianna leaving the flat on earlier occasions.

Initially, Jianna claimed Yuh's death was an accident, suggesting he slipped and fell on the knife. However, the nature of the wounds and subsequent interrogation led her to confess to the murder. The couple had met at a party in Gurgaon two years ago and soon began their live-in relationship. Jianna, who is from Manipur's Bishnupur, was unemployed and reportedly received a monthly allowance from Yuh.

An FIR has been registered against Lum Jianna under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Knowledge Park police station. She was produced before a court on Monday and remanded to judicial custody. With Yuh's family in South Korea refusing to come to India, an autopsy was conducted in the presence of officials from the South Korean Embassy, which has also taken custody of the body for further proceedings.
