Mother of Drowned Noida Student Accuses Friends of Negligence, Demands Thorough Investigation
In a tragic incident that has sparked outrage and questions, the mother of a 23-year-old student who allegedly drowned in a water-filled pit in Noida's Sector 94 has accused his friends of failing to save him and claimed she was not informed about his death in a timely manner. The case has led to police action, with an FIR registered against three students as authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding the young man's untimely demise.
Details of the Incident and Police Response
Police have officially registered an FIR against three students identified as Krish, Himanshu, and Vyas, following a complaint lodged by the grieving family. The investigation is currently ongoing, with law enforcement officials working to piece together the events that led to this heartbreaking loss.
The deceased, Harshit Bhatt, was a final-year Bachelor of Physical Education student at a private university, on the cusp of beginning his career as a physical education teacher. According to police reports, he had gone for a picnic with three friends to an abandoned construction site in the Sector 126 police station area on Wednesday evening, shortly after completing his examinations.
Mother's Allegations and Emotional Appeal
Speaking from her residence in Ghaziabad, Harshit's mother, Deepmala, expressed profound distress over the handling of her son's death. She alleged that neither his friends nor the police informed her about the tragedy in a direct or timely fashion.
"When our neighbor called on Harshit's phone, we were told he had met with an accident. Nobody, neither his friends nor the police, informed me about his death," she recounted, highlighting the family's shock and confusion during those critical moments.
Deepmala described the circumstances of the visit as highly suspicious, questioning why her son was taken to that specific, hazardous location. "Why did his friends take him to that specific location? If he had gone there to bathe, they should have stopped him. He was a good swimmer and was about to become a physical education teacher," she alleged, suggesting potential negligence or foul play.
Concerns Raised by Post-Mortem Findings
Adding to the family's suspicions, Deepmala pointed out that the post-mortem report did not indicate any alcohol consumption by Harshit. However, it did reveal multiple injury marks on his body, raising serious concerns about the possibility of foul play.
"I fear that he may have been murdered. I want a fair probe into my son's death," she stated emphatically, calling for a transparent and thorough investigation to uncover the truth.
In her appeal to authorities, Deepmala also urged them to identify and secure such hazardous spots across the city to prevent similar tragic incidents in the future, emphasizing the need for proactive safety measures.
Broader Implications and Community Impact
This incident has not only devastated a family but also raised broader questions about student safety, friend responsibility in emergencies, and the adequacy of communication protocols in crisis situations. As the police investigation progresses, the community awaits answers, hoping for justice and measures to enhance public safety.
The case serves as a somber reminder of the vulnerabilities in urban environments and the critical importance of vigilance and prompt action in preventing such losses. With the FIR filed and probes underway, all eyes are on the authorities to deliver a comprehensive and fair resolution.
