Noida Police busts bike theft gang, arrests 3

In a significant crackdown, the Noida Police successfully dismantled an organized two-wheeler theft ring on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of nine stolen motorcycles along with various vehicle parts.

Gang Members and Modus Operandi Exposed

The police apprehended the gang leader, identified as Phool Singh alias Monu (22) from Sambhal district. His accomplices were Rajendra alias Chhote and Rajpal alias Bhola, both approximately 20 years old and residents of Badaun district. The arrests followed a surge in theft complaints from the Sector 113 area, prompting the formation of a special team under Additional DCP Shavya Goyal.

Acting on specific intelligence, the police team intercepted the accused just as they returned to the locality intending to commit another robbery. During questioning, the gang detailed their methodical approach. They would conduct daytime reconnaissance in markets, residential societies, and sector roads to spot unattended motorcycles. After evaluating a vehicle's condition, Monu would finalize the target and summon his associates.

Using specialized tools, the gang could break a bike's lock in under two minutes. Following the theft, one member would escape with the motorcycle while the others left separately to avoid suspicion.

Scrap Dealer Links and Profit Sharing

Investigations revealed that the gang had established connections with scrap dealers in Delhi. The stolen motorcycles were dismantled, and the parts were sold at inflated prices. The illicit profits were distributed among the members under a fixed arrangement: gang leader Monu took a 40% cut, while the remaining 60% was split between the other two accused.

Police also uncovered that the group carried out thefts on demand. ADCP Shavya Goyal noted that the accused frequently operated under aliases to evade law enforcement. It was found that Monu, who had a prior criminal record and had been jailed earlier, specifically recruited unemployed youths who had migrated to the city in search of work.

Ongoing Investigations and Recovery

The police are currently verifying the full criminal histories of the arrested individuals. Efforts are also underway to contact the rightful owners of the recovered motorcycles, which were stolen from various police station jurisdictions across Noida. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals potentially linked to the gang's operations.

This bust highlights the organized nature of vehicle theft rings in the National Capital Region and the police's continued efforts to curb such crimes through proactive intelligence and specialized teams.
