Kolkata: Two Women in New Town Allege Molestation, Attempt to Rape by Flatmate's Ex
New Town Complex Residents File Police Complaint Over Assault

Two women residing in a major residential complex in Kolkata's New Town have filed a formal police complaint, alleging serious sexual assault and threats from two men, one of whom was previously in a relationship with their third flatmate. The complaint was submitted at the Techno City Police Station on Wednesday.

Detailed Allegations of Harassment and Assault

The complainants have accused the two men of multiple offences, including molestation, physical assault, and an attempt to rape. They have also named the parents of the accused, alleging criminal trespass, verbal abuse, and criminal intimidation. According to the written complaint, the entire dispute stems from their female flatmate's past relationship with one of the accused.

The women stated that the accused individuals repeatedly entered their flat without permission, created disturbances, and used abusive language on several occasions. The men allegedly claimed that the complainants were interfering in and manipulating the flatmate's relationship.

The Night of the Alleged Attack

The situation reportedly escalated on Wednesday night. The women alleged that both men entered their flat, touched them inappropriately, and attempted to sexually assault them in the early hours. They further claimed that the accused had made obscene remarks towards them multiple times in the past.

Emphasizing the severity of the incident, the complainants have formally sought the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in the matter. It has been noted that the accused reside in another apartment within the same large housing complex in New Town.

Separate New Year Party Assault Case in Picnic Garden

In an unrelated but similarly distressing incident from Kolkata, a 22-year-old woman from Picnic Garden has alleged assault by her former boyfriend. The incident occurred after the accused learned that she was attending a New Year's party with new friends. The Tiljala Police have registered a case based on her complaint.

Legal Steps and Community Concern

The primary case from New Town is now with the Techno City Police, who are examining the allegations detailed in the written complaint. The case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of women in residential spaces and the complexities that can arise from interpersonal disputes. The demand for an FIR underscores the complainants' pursuit of formal legal action against the accused and their families for the alleged crimes of molestation, assault, attempt to rape, trespass, and threats.
