Neighbor Confesses to Murder of 4-Year-Old Boy in Rajasthan After Six-Year Missing Case
A six-year-old missing child case in Bandikui near Dausa, Rajasthan, has taken a grim turn into a murder investigation after a neighbor allegedly confessed to killing the 4-year-old boy in August 2020. The revelation emerged following renewed scrutiny and court-monitored progress, leading to the arrest of the accused on Friday.
Court Pressure Spurs Police Action
The Rajasthan High Court, during a hearing of the habeas corpus case for the missing boy, reprimanded senior police officers from Dausa and Rajasthan Police. This judicial intervention prompted a more determined effort to solve the case and locate the child. "As we started digging deeper into the missing boy's case, we got some inputs which stated that the neighbor of the boy was in some dispute with the family members of the missing boy. Thus, we detained the accused for questioning," explained a senior police officer.
Details of the Alleged Crime
Police have now confirmed that the boy, identified as Prince alias Tillu, was allegedly abducted and murdered. According to the investigation, the accused confessed that on August 16, 2020, around 11 am, he picked up the child from the courtyard of his house in Unbara village under the Bandikui police station area. He then took the boy near his own house, approximately 200 meters away, and killed him with a knife.
The body was placed in a sack and hidden behind the house initially. To avoid suspicion, the accused allegedly transported it 500 meters to the under-construction Delhi-Mumbai Expressway the next day at 11 pm, burying it in the soil.
Challenges in Locating Remains
Acting on the information provided by the accused, police teams began excavation work with a JCB machine along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Unbara village on Thursday afternoon. "So far, several items of clothing were found during the excavation. The police showed them to the youth, but confirmation could not be made," said Sagar Rana, Superintendent of Police, Dausa.
Despite extensive digging over 300 meters, no human remains or clear evidence have been found. An officer noted, "Yes, the accused is so far claiming that he is unable to locate the exact location where the child was buried in 2020. Given the circumstances at the spot, the accused is unable to recognise the place."
Background of the Case
The incident dates back to August 16, 2020, when Prince went missing from his home in Bairwa Dhani. A missing person's report was filed the following day, but despite investigations by nearly seven officers over the years, no concrete leads emerged until the recent breakthrough. The police are continuing their efforts to locate the mortal remains and bring closure to this tragic case.
