Nashik Murder Case: Son and Daughter-in-Law Among Three Arrested for Killing Father Over Land Dispute
In a shocking development in Nashik, the Ahilyanagar police have arrested three individuals, including the victim's own son and daughter-in-law, in connection with the brutal murder of 60-year-old Bapu Gadhave from Chincholi Ramzan in Karjat, Ahilyanagar district. The victim had been missing since early January, sparking a police investigation that has now uncovered a grim family dispute over farmland.
Arrests Made in the Murder Case
The arrested individuals have been identified as Akash Gadhave, the victim's son; his wife, Payal Gadhave; and his brother-in-law, Sunil Rathod. Police authorities have confirmed that two additional suspects involved in the murder are currently evading capture and are on the run. The arrests followed a meticulous investigation by the local crime branch of the Ahilyanagar police.
Investigation Details and Confession
Police Inspector Kiran Kabadi of the Ahilyanagar police's local crime branch revealed that Akash Gadhave had initially filed a missing person complaint regarding his father on March 5. As the investigation progressed, police grew suspicious of Akash's account and began questioning him closely. During interrogation, Akash pointed fingers at Sunil Rathod, alleging his involvement in his father's disappearance.
Subsequently, police tracked down Rathod, aged 37, to Shegaon and apprehended him on Friday. Under custodial interrogation, Rathod confessed to the murder of Bapu Gadhave. He disclosed that the crime was premeditated, involving Akash, Payal, and two other accomplices. The motive behind the murder was a contentious family dispute: Akash wanted to sell their agricultural land, but his father, Bapu Gadhave, was staunchly opposed to the sale.
On January 4, the five individuals executed their plan by smothering Gadhave to death with a pillow. To conceal their heinous act, they later burned and disposed of the body, attempting to erase all evidence of the crime.
Second Murder Case Solved
In a startling twist, during the custodial interrogation, Sunil Rathod also confessed to another murder case registered in the Akola district. Rathod admitted to killing a woman named Sheetal Limbaji Songewad from Parbhani. According to his confession, Rathod was in a relationship with Songewad, who had threatened to file a police complaint against him. On November 16 of last year, he murdered her and partially burned her body in Balapur, Akola.
Police have verified that a murder case concerning Sheetal Limbaji Songewad was indeed registered at the Balapur police station in Akola. This revelation has allowed the Ahilyanagar police to crack a second homicide case, showcasing the effectiveness of their investigative efforts.

Inspector Kiran Kabadi emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on apprehending the two remaining suspects who are still at large. The police are also delving deeper into the connections between the two murder cases to ensure all aspects are thoroughly examined.
