Nashik Senior Citizen Arrested After Extortion Case Reveals 121 Obscene Videos

In a shocking development from Maharashtra's Nashik, a senior citizen has been arrested following a police investigation that uncovered 121 obscene videos, leading to charges of alleged sexual exploitation. The case emerged after one of the victims came forward with a complaint, officials confirmed on Saturday.

Extortion Attempt Leads to Broader Investigation

The incident initially came to light when police arrested four men for allegedly stealing a tablet from the man's office in the Satpur area. According to reports from news agency PTI, the accused attempted to extort Rs 12 lakh by threatening to leak private photos and videos on social media platforms.

During their investigation, law enforcement officials seized four mobile phones, two pen drives, and a memory card from the accused individuals. Upon thorough examination of these devices, authorities discovered 121 obscene and objectionable video clips featuring women and acquaintances of the complainant, identified as Ravindra Ganpat Erande.

Victim Comes Forward with Serious Allegations

In a significant turn of events, one of the victims filed a formal complaint against Erande, alleging that he had sexually assaulted her multiple times at various hotels. The victim claimed that Erande had promised to secure a government job for her son as part of his deceptive tactics.

Based on this serious complaint, Erande was arrested on Friday under multiple legal provisions. The charges include Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (which addresses sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means), along with relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

Pattern of Exploitation Uncovered

Preliminary investigations suggest that Erande allegedly exploited several women and systematically recorded obscene videos of them without their consent. Police officials have expressed concern about the scale of the alleged exploitation and have urged other potential victims to come forward.

Law enforcement authorities have assured that the identities of any women who come forward will be kept strictly confidential, in accordance with established protocols for handling sensitive cases of this nature.

Original Extortion Complaint Details

Earlier this week, Erande had approached Satpur police to report that his tablet had been stolen from his office. He informed authorities that he had already paid Rs 10,000 to the blackmailers and was expected to hand over an additional Rs 50,000 on Thursday evening.

Acting on this complaint, police set up a trap and apprehended four individuals in connection with the extortion attempt: Akash Pundlik Bakre, Prakash Ramdas Panpatil, Suraj Sunil Gawai, and Shreepat Bhimrao Shinde.

The investigation has revealed a complex web of criminal activity, beginning with theft and extortion attempts that ultimately led to the discovery of much more serious allegations of sexual exploitation. Police continue their investigation to determine the full scope of the alleged crimes and identify all potential victims.
