Nashik Tragedy: Father and Two Sons Found Dead in Canal, Third Child Missing
In a heartbreaking incident in Nashik, the bodies of a 28-year-old man and his two young sons were recovered from the Palkhed canal on Sunday, while authorities continue searching for a third child who remains missing. The deceased have been identified as Deepak Pawar, a daily wage worker from Nandurdi village, and his sons Veer (5) and Prasad (1.5 years old).
Discovery by Shepherd Leads to Police Investigation
According to Inspector Ganesh Gurav of the Niphad police station, the tragic discovery began when a shepherd spotted the bodies of two children trapped against a gate in the canal. The shepherd immediately raised an alarm, prompting local residents to notify the police. Inspector Gurav explained that the Palkhed canal is currently flowing at high capacity due to water being released from the dam for agricultural and drinking purposes.
The bodies were successfully fished out from the water during the afternoon hours, the officer confirmed. When police subsequently visited the children's home, they made the disturbing discovery that Deepak Pawar and another child, three-year-old Avinash, were also missing.
Domestic Dispute Precedes Tragic Incident
The investigation has revealed that Deepak Pawar had argued with his wife on Sunday morning. Following the domestic dispute, Pawar told his wife he was taking their sons for a haircut and left with the children. After that departure, nobody in the family or community saw them again until the tragic discovery in the canal.
Inspector Gurav provided chilling details about what likely transpired: It appears that Pawar threw the children into the canal and then jumped in himself, suggesting a possible suicide pact following the family conflict. The police are treating this as a suspected case of murder-suicide, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Search Continues for Missing Child
Authorities have launched an extensive search operation for the missing three-year-old Avinash. The search involves:
- Multiple police teams combing the canal area
- Local volunteers assisting in the operation
- Specialized equipment being deployed for underwater search
- Continuous monitoring of downstream areas
The community of Nandurdi village has been left in shock by this tragedy, with neighbors describing Deepak Pawar as a hardworking daily wage laborer who supported his family through manual work. The incident has raised serious concerns about mental health awareness and domestic conflict resolution in rural communities.
Police have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to this tragic event. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and post-mortem examinations have been conducted on the recovered bodies to determine the exact cause of death.
The tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the importance of mental health support systems and community intervention during family conflicts. As the search for the missing child continues, authorities have appealed to the public for any information that might assist in locating Avinash or understanding the full sequence of events that led to this devastating outcome.
