Nagpur Cyber Crime Team Suspended for Letting Fraudsters Escape
Nagpur Cyber Crime Team Suspended Over Fraud Probe Lapses

Nagpur: Senior inspector Baliram Sutar, assistant police inspectors Yogesh Ghare and Vijay Rane, and six constables of the Cybercrime Police Station have been suspended, following allegations that they allowed cyber fraudsters to escape without proper action.

Suspension Order and Inquiry

CP Ravinder Singal issued the suspension order on Monday following a detailed probe. Sources said Singal directed an inquiry by an official of DCP rank. The suspended personnel had also allegedly failed to seek permission from seniors before heading outstation for an investigation. They also tried to mislead officials who conducted inquiries, according to sources.

Details of the Case

Around 15 days ago, a case was registered for an online fraud of just 500 rupees after receiving complaints. Rane, Ghare, constable Praful Thakre and others went to Mumbai and Pune for investigation. It is alleged that they were involved in wrongdoings during the probe.

Internal Conflict Leads to Action

The matter came to light after a heated showdown between Thakre and Rane at the police station. Thakre complained to senior officials, but later went underground for a day or two before being traced. His complaint triggered an internal inquiry, leading to swift action against the entire team.
