Murder Case Filed After Man Found Dead in Maize Field

Ludhiana: Police have registered a murder case against a Jalandhar man after the body of his 29-year-old friend was discovered in a maize field near the Sutlej river.

Discovery of the Body

Jaswinder Singh Ekam was found dead with injury marks on his arm and back at Maddepur village on Monday. The victim's brother, Sukhwinder Singh, reported the incident to the authorities.

Sequence of Events

According to the complaint, the accused, Jashandeep Singh Kalu, had stayed at the victim's home on May 1 before leaving with Jaswinder the following morning. When Jaswinder failed to return, the family launched a search, eventually confronting Kalu at a pigeon-flying event on May 3.

Sukhwinder alleged that Kalu had provided evasive answers regarding his brother's whereabouts. Subsequent inquiries led the family to believe that Kalu took Jaswinder to Gobindpur on a motorcycle before allegedly pushing him off the vehicle, causing fatal injuries.

Police Investigation

The suspect then reportedly dumped the body in the field and fled. Sidhwan Bet station house officer (SHO), sub-inspector Amarjit Singh, confirmed that a murder case had been registered against Kalu. Investigators are currently working to determine the motive behind the killing as the suspect remains under investigation.

Police have not yet made any arrests but are actively searching for the accused. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
